The Four Agreements - Re Visited
As soon as I posted the blog yesterday, I immediately my mind went to one of The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz. My mind went to the 2nd agreement -
Don't take anything personally
Here is the 2nd agreement:
2. Don't take anything personally. The first agreement suggests that we avoid treating others hurtfully. The second agreement provides us with a way of dealing with potentially hurtful treatment from others. Because each person sees the world in a unique way, the way that others treat us says as much about them as it does about us. To not take anything personally is to acknowledge the unique identities of other people. We respect their subjective realities, realizing that their views do not necessarily describe us accurately.
In reference to yesterday's post - while this doesn't diminish my part in the relationship, this agreement means, everyone in the relationship has their own idea of what has happened, based on their own world views.
1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don't take anything personally.
3. Don't make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.
I think I am going to re read this book - and re familiarize myself with these agreements.
Enjoy 💜
