I begin. Again.

Image
Through various teachers as well as being with the text directly I have been reading, learning, exploring, sharing A Course in Miracles for well over 2 decades. It has supported me through so much in my life.  I am participating in a course with Alan Cohen, as we work through his book A Course in Miracles made Easy. It's another approach to receiving the material, in addition to reading the print book, attending the webinars, taking notes I am also listening to the audiobook, again.  And today have once again decided to begin the workbook again.  It appears March is a time I head back in. Hmmm February is behind me now, thankfully. This last week has been incredibly hard on my heart and I need these words, this teaching to keep my spirit and my heart high. So I will do my mental first aid, and ACIM is on top of the list.  Lessons - I am here!  Last visit through the lessons - I made it through about 2 months...let's see how far I go this time.  I have read ...

This is my view right now as I get back to basics.  Reading nourishing words, writing and studying ♡  The tripod is here as this is spot I have been doing live videos for The Happiness Studio this past week or so. Live video # ~ 85/100 🦄 ♡♡♡ Yesterday during our live webinar with The Happiness Academy ( certificate program -  Happiness Facilitator ) we spoke about getting back to basics.  These are some of my basics: Rich soul nourishing words I read them and I write them  Study/learning  And connection This week, once again, (by someone who lives in a different world view than mine) I was told I was selfish, narcissistic, delusion and hurtful to all those around me - gosh it was a hard Tuesday/Wednesday.   I had to pick myself up and DECIDE to do my work-my work which keeps me in the light, in the truth of love. Love is a powerful force, stronger than fear or anger - however because we are both human and spirit we need to make a cons...

Speakers Block

Image
Seth Godin says, you can always write a blog, because when you write as you speak, it's easy; because, as he claims, we rarely have 'speaker's block'. I am not so sure. Lately, I haven't had much to say, to share. I have had a great launch to my new service of Coaching via Email- I guess that is something to talk about. Our family has welcomed a new baby into the family, a new grandson for my husband and I - that is something to talk about. Our family has also lost one key member, my mother in law. All of this happened in the same month. August. So August was full on with emotions, the fullness of life as it were. The sadness and the gladness. It was bitter sweet to lose our Mother (in law), she had been unwell, and at the end in a bit of distress. So, of course, we didn't want her to linger in the sorrow of pain and distress.  She was happy to say farewell, she knew who was waiting for her on the other side. I also wonder now if she had a ch...

What daily choices move your toward your happiness?

What are actively doing to create the life you want? Are you making conscious decisions to live your best life possible? Are you following through with these decisions (big step 😀 ) When the obstacles arrive (and they always arrive), what are you doing with them? Obstacles can be perceived outside judgments, not 'feeling' like it, perceived lack of time, lack of resources, the list goes on, mostly in my experience of listening to obstacles they sound very similar to excuses. Do you stop or do you keep going?  Do you shake off the obstacle, climb over it, go around it, modify it? So what are you actively doing daily to create the life you want? What ideas and actions do you have lined up to support you when the obstacles show up?  How will you manage them? Become active in your life, and your choices. When you choose, remember why you made the choice in the first place, this may be helpful when the obstacle shows up.  Choices are usually made to either mov...

Surround yourself with Happiness

Not sure how to bring happiness in your life? Well, firstly, I believe we are born to be happy - and as such we then can extend our love to serve the world - lifting and supporting others. I look around my home and I would say, yes, everything in my view brings me happiness, my books, a bracelet a friend gave me, our granddaughter's puzzle, fuzzy slippers which I wear to the hot tub, my hubby on his computer in the kitchen (I'm on my chrome book in the living room). I have mentioned things - however I feel the life of these things, the actions of them, the being in relationship with them. For example, books bring happiness for me; well because they are filled with words, images which spark ideas, which ignites the desire for me to share = happiness How do you surround yourself with happiness?  Look around from where you are right now, can you sense your happiness? If you have something in your world, within view and it doesn't spark a twinge of joy, happiness or love ...

Get Dressed. Show Up

Get dressed. Show up. For the past two weeks I have been involved in self experiment of sorts; getting dressed. Now, don't get me wrong, I get dressed most days.  In the recent past, there were days pajamas were the attire for the whole day. Pajama day.  Easy, relaxing and comfy. These days, I'm on a bit of a roll with changing my habits.  I have been working with myself to change the way I move in the world, and it occurred to me getting dressed first thing may be an easy change to do. I thought it would be uncomfortable and I wouldn't like it. Since I love quiet reflective mornings I figured my pajamas were the perfect costume for this. I was mistaken. Being ready to create the day is more in my style it seems. It has been very easy in fact - getting up and getting dressed right away has lead me to more productive days. As I consider - it's possibly because I get up, get dressed and begin - the day has started - and since I am already dressed, there is...

Wonderful words from John O'Donohue

This morning I am moved by these words: "There are no manuals for the construction of the individual you would like to become. You are the only one who can decide this and take up the lifetime of work that it demands. This is such a wonderful privilege and such an exciting adventure. To grow into the person that your deepest longing desires is a great blessing. If you can find a creative harmony between your soul and your life, you will have found something infinitely precious. You may not be able to much about the great problems of the world or change the situation you are in, but if you can awaken the eternal beauty and light of your soul, then you will bring light where you go. The gift of life is given to us for ourselves and also to bring peace, courage and compassion to others." Words

This morning I was reading from John O'Donohue's book - Eternal Echoes This passage caught my mind from Wittgenstein : 'The limits of my language mean the limits of my world'  Wow I have always been drawn to words, the power they hold in them.  The Bible say, in the beginning was the word... The wonderful and brilliant Maya Angelou said words have power , they are things, they get into you, be careful of the words you use. The word. The creator of worlds What words are you using to create your life. Begin today, begin now, pay attention are they power filled and present? Imagine, the quality of your life is impacted by the quality of your words, by the ability to speak your world into being, create your world by using powerful words of choice. The beautiful words have moved me again John O'Donohue -  "Words become the mirrors of reality"

The Dreamy Intangibles

My work can feel like wading through dreamy intangibles And yet, being happy, feeling powerful in your life, creating a life filled with joy will have real practical results. Don't most of us say about our kids, friends, and/or family; "I just want them to be happy" This includes you. Well, I want you to be happy. You rock your world when you're happy. Step into the dreamy intangibles *This was originally posted on my FB page on July 17 2018

The Four Agreements - Re Visited

As soon as I posted the blog yesterday, I immediately my mind went to one of The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz. My mind went to the 2nd agreement -   Don't take anything personally Here is the 2nd agreement:  2. Don't take anything personally.  The first agreement suggests that we avoid treating others hurtfully. The second agreement provides us with a way of dealing with potentially hurtful treatment from others. Because each person sees the world in a unique way, the way that others treat us says as much about them as it does about us. To not take anything personally is to acknowledge the unique identities of other people. We respect their subjective realities, realizing that their views do not necessarily describe us accurately. In reference to yesterday's post - while this doesn't diminish my part in the relationship, this agreement means, everyone in the relationship has their own idea of what has happened, based on their own world views....

Inspiration

Image
I have read many opinions about inspiration.  It's come down to two ideas for me at this moment. 1. You move only when inspired to. 2. You have a project or a desire and you set up a regular time to be inspired. For me, I move between the two. First I move when inspired to and then I NEED to remain inspired to see it through. So for this, it requires a regular time and commitment. I had read a great quote years ago from a writer: 'I get inspired every day at 9 a.m. There is something to be said for moving from inspired thought and then keeping the inspiration alive through devotion.  I had restarted writing this blog recently with the intention of posting daily and it somehow started off fabulously....and then you know; life, travel, lack of devotion. So my inspiration has been reignited. How? I sat down and I began writing, and now as I am finishing this post. Inspiration burns once again. Devote time after the initial inspiration and when the fla...

Being generous

Image
I saw this quote today and I love it. "Attention is the rarest form of generosity." It's from Simone Weil. Now, I wasn't sure about rarest, until I wrote it out. Until I sat with it. And, yes, it may be the rarest. What do you give your full attention to, ever? Your. Full. Attention.  Pay attention to your day, to your actions. Be generous with yourself. Be present. Be attentive. Fully. Even for 5 minutes. See how it feels to be fully generous.

Is it ever too late?

Image
Last night during the final evening of Building Women's Self Esteem, a participant called me over to ask a question. "Do you think is ever too late to go back to school?" "Ummmm? No!" At least that is what I believe.  I believe if you have the desire you then are given the ability to complete. Now; you may need to step up and raise the expectations of your daily life, refine your habits so that you become the person who is able to complete your dream.   Is it ever too late -- no.  In all fairness, she wasn't asking, was it too late to become something incredibly out of her reach - out of her scope - and as I write this; I also wonder what would be out of her range?   Is it ever too late, no.  I also believe - part of the success of the journey is in the enjoyment of the journey itself.  One never knows which path will open for them once they say yes! Begin with your dream, say yes. It's never too late.  #truthbomb from Danielle L...

Inspiring Day

Image
I have had an inspiring day, from the this gorgeous sunrise to the quiet of my afternoon.  I have been feeling more inspired lately and following through on the thoughts and feelings this has brought. Recently I began back on my treadmill after a good year of non consistent walking, the time felt right to begin, again.  {It's okay, to begin again} I have decided to walk for 30 minutes, while catching up on podcasts I have been saving.  One of these podcasts I listened to was Dave Ramsey speaking to Seth Godin - it was a wonderful conversation.  Seth shared how he believes everyone should have a blog, and write everyday, and it didn't matter if anyone read it. It mattered more, it was written. It matter more that an idea, a thought was shared.  He said it could be as little as 200 words, it was important to write. I thought, I can do that! So I am.  I am writing. I am not waiting for it to be perfect, or for when I have the perfect topic, I am g...

Spring in a Vase

Image
Where we live, in northern Alberta snows stills sits on the ground. I know this is true for many other parts of Canada as well. Therefore, since we don't see the tulips pushing through the cold ground or see the grass revealed, trampled and worn from the heavy snow of winter as many do in less northern climates do. We can still experience the feeling of spring. Colour, life, freshness, and renewal are the gifts each spring shares with us. We have cycled through the hibernating energy of winter. It is now time to shine with renewed sense of wonder, of life. This is how I feel when I experience spring in a vase. How does spring affect you?

Spring

Image
Today it is the first day of spring. It is welcomed. Today is also the first day in a long while, perhaps a month, since I sat down with the healing, nuturing power of my journal.  I wrote intentions for moving forward, I wrote about desires I want to see come into full being.  I wrote. Is there something from your past, something from your wellness care that has worked and yet you have dropped it or it has slipped from your daily round? Is it time, now, to begin, again?

The Choice of Happiness

Image
"Happiness is not an accident. Nor is it something you wish for. Happiness is something you design." -- Jim Rohn {Originally posted on my private blog: Monday February 27 2012} I love the quote above.  Why?  Well, because it suggests we are responsible for our own happiness. Something I discovered and have rediscovered again and again as I have moved through these last 48 years.  I am  responsible for my own happiness. I wanted to be happy when I grew up and I bet you did too.  I bet when you are speaking about your children, about your friends, or your parents – you say, ‘ I don’t care what they do; as long as they are happy.’ True?  True. Happy, happiness, big meaning.  What does it mean to you?  Of course it is subjective, relative and an in the moment answer.  You could be out in the freezing biting rain, and you would be happy to be dry and warm by the fire.  You could be in a horrible relationship and be happ...

The whisper of reinvention

Image
“Come back into your life.” “Come back to yourself.” These were the whispers, I have been hearing  recently. For the past two years I have spent more time with my parents than usual. My father moved from illness into diagnosed cancer through to his death.  In that time, I moved through my life with heart and purpose for what needed to be done, and I am grateful for the time I had, with my parents.  However, now, as the two years remain in my heart, I know I need to move forward; to use the experience fully, to enrich my life. It was only recently I fully realized I had turned 50 within that time. Time had swept my life along. Recently, during many of my lovely women conversations, the question ‘now what?’ would arrive.  “What are you going to do now?” They would ask this as if they knew what I did not at the time; I needed to change something, to release, to add or to shift something.    The whispered requests becoming louder, now coupled with the cu...
